Pet Sitting as my Side Hustle Taught Me About Freedom

I have returned from my amazing and life-changing first plane trip alone in 38 years.

However , I am not staying in my safe and cozy home for very long. I have a one day turnaround to unpack and re-pack for a two week pet sitting gig in my favorite neighborhood in Boston, Jamaica Plain.

One of the things that this whole pet sitting side hustle has been helpful with is my continued vacillation between whether I want to live alone or in community with others.

When I have a pet sitting gig, it gives me the opportunity to practice what it would be like living alone, but also not completely alone, because I am with a furry companion.

It was the beginning of my truly being able to consider leaving my marriage.

When my husband and I started to have an increase in our troubles, and I was asked to leave my mother-in-law‘s house and had nowhere to stay, I was invited by my dear friend, Pastor Daryn to stay at her house while she was away on vacation and take care of her dog Deacon.
