Finding A New Home as a Newly Separated 50something Woman
I have been given a great gift…..
Thanks to a connection with a former ministry colleague, I have been invited to rent a room in their large, welcoming and cozy farmhouse, in a beautiful town, right on the outskirts of Boston. I will be sharing her home along with her spouse, 12 year old daughter and another single male housemate. I think that this will work out well for me. I did not want to live alone, nor could I afford it.
I was extremely fortunate. I fully recognize my privilege. Many women in my position and at my age will find it much more difficult than I did to find a new home. It took me almost four weeks of couch surfing with various friends before I was able to secure stable housing.
In addition, another of my dear colleagues has allowed me to keep my overflow of things in an empty room at her church- while I figure out what I want to bring into my new space- what I want to sell- and what I want to donate. (AGAIN I WILL SAY……where would I be without the Church?????) Over the next few months that room at the church will be emptied -with things inside either going to my office, my new room, or out of my life entirely through selling or donation.
I truly have been given the gift to create the space I want with ONLY the things in it that bring me joy. Living on…
