The following selections from my journal were written while I was attending my first ever seven day Ignatian silent retreat at a retreat center in Massachusetts. It was a dream of mine, for quite some time to attend one of these retreats…..As you will see, if you follow along…..It started out beautifully. Unfortunately, it would not remain that way….

Monday- Captain’s Log Stardate 11/16/2020

I can see there is going to be a rhythm to my day here…..

I let myself sleep in this morning , which was ok but the result of that was that I missed coffee!!

(Which is available in the dining room from 6:15 am to 9am.)

I just missed it.

I woke up and reached right for the daily prayer book that came with the room. I had already gotten some significant insights reading it yesterday, so I figured I would stick with that. It is liturgical in nature with daily prayers and Scripture readings, along with reflections written by various outside contributors . I think I am going to subscribe to it. I already like it very much.
